Sean

Sean is a painter who lives and works in Belfast. He attended the city’s Art College in the late 1980s and after a period spent teaching and then working in the public sector he began practising and teaching art full time in 2016.

Sean works in a variety of media. He has exhibited regularly as a member of the Pastel Society of Ireland. His pastel paintings have won a number of awards including his portraits and landscapes. His oil paintings and pastels have been shown as part of the Royal Ulster Academy’s annual exhibition in recent years and in 2024 he won the Artisann award for his pastel study of two young boxers. His pastels and paintings in other media have been exhibited widely throughout Ireland.

Sean’s love of life drawing and the human form underpins much of his practice. He is a keen participant in a number of Belfast life drawing groups.. He is also passionate about portraiture and he regularly paints portraits as commissions or just for his own enjoyment and practice.
